UNICON Welcomes Two New Board Members for 2021-2022

UNICON announced the results of the board election and appointment process for fiscal year 2021-2022.  The new board members will formally take office July 1.

Mark B. Lewis, Executive Director, Executive Education, The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, won the board election held last month.

Mark Lewis has served a key role in the development of Executive Education programs for Fortune 100 and 500 corporations. Mark currently serves as the Executive Director of Executive Education at The University Of Chicago Booth School Of Business, leading business administration and development.

In this role through business development, his charge is to increases enrollment in programs that strengthen executive skills in accounting, economics, finance, leadership, general management, wealth management, and strategy.

Mark offers more than 30 years of experience, and has created extraordinary contributions to the growth and continued success of the Executive Education department. He is credited with building a strong network of relationships with alumni, professional associations, and other referral resources globally.

Mark is also a member of the National Black MBA Association National Advisory Council Board, serves as Co-chairman of The University of Chicago Booth School of Business Staff Diversity and Inclusion committee, research committee member UNICON, and the THRIVE Diversity Board for the Investment Wealth Institute.

He holds a Master of Arts degree in Continuing Higher Education Administration from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Morehouse College.


Aldemir Drummond, Vice Dean, Fundação Dom Cabral, will serve as the board appointment.

Aldemir Drummond is a Professor of Strategy and Organizations at FDC, where he taught at the Executive MBA, open enrollment and customized programs. In custom programs he taught middle to senior level executives in companies like ABB, Arcelor Mittal, British American Tobacco, Bosch, Bunge, EADS, Embraer, Halma, NEC, Novartis, Pirelli, Syngenta, Vale, Volkswagen and Votorantim.

He has designed and been the academic director of:

  • Strategy and Execution – an open enrollment program that has had nine editions so far, starting in 2012.
  • BRICs on BRICs – a partnership program between FDC, Skolkovo – Moscow School of Management, ISB – Indian School of Business and Fudan University (China), with a focus on the development of business in the BRICs countries, with two editions, in 2011 and 2012.
  • FDC – Kellogg Post MBA Program – an international one-week program for the participants of FDC’s Executive MBA. It is run once a year at the Kellogg School of Management, since 2002.

Aldemir designed the program together with Kellogg faculty and was the Program Director from 2002 to 2007.

Aldemir has also been the academic director of a number of custom programs for large companies, participating in all stages of the program (visiting clients, helping the program director to sell the program, designing the program with the client, choosing faculty, following the program development and assessing its results for the company involved).

Between 2016 and 2020 Aldemir was Vice Dean at FDC, being responsible for:

  • Individual Development – comprising all programs for individuals, both degree (Executive MBA, Professional MSc, Specialization) and non-degree (Open Enrollment);
  • Faculty and R&D;
  • Education and Innovation.

Aldemir holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil) and a PhD in Management from Cambridge University (UK).

Having completed their 6-year board term, Larry Murphy, University of Virginia, and Marco Serrato, The University of Chicago will be leaving the board.
