UNICON Welcomes Two New Board Members for 2019-2020

UNICON announced the results of the board election and appointment process for fiscal year 2019-2020.  The new board members will formally take office July 1.

Kan Cai, PBC School of Finance, Tsinghua University, won the board election held last month.

Kan Cai joined PBC School of Finance (PBCSF) when it was first incorporated into Tsinghua University as its 17th school in 2012. Prior to that, he was working as a senior consultant to the EDP Program of Tsinghua’s School of Economics and Management, where he was helping develop new training programs in business model transition and innovation. After the transfer, he became the director of marketing in the newly established Center for Executive Education at PBCSF.

He helped develop the Exec Ed business for the School, leading the effort of building the new center and successfully implementing the first international program of the Center during its first year in operation. Since then, the Center has grown to become the leading Exec Ed institution in all of China as well as in Asia in just 5 years.

In 2014, Kan Cai was tasked with setting up a dual-degree Finance MBA program between Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and Tsinghua’s PBC School of Finance.

Before entering the business education sector, Kan had worked as a consultant in banking business for 3 years in China and risk management and investment banking for over 10 years in the US, assuming various positions with companies such as Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette, Credit Suisse First Boston, and Bank of New York.


Nora Anderson, University of Minnesota, will serve as the board appointment.

She is Executive Director of Executive Education at Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, where she provides strategic direction, oversight and leadership of the Executive Education department, which includes custom programs designed and delivered for corporate clients as well as a portfolio of over 20 open enrollment programs.

Before joining the University of Minnesota, Nora designed and managed Custom Executive Education programs for IE Business School clients representing a wide variety of sectors – information technology, financial services, energy, pharmaceutical and consumer goods – with business in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia, and across all leadership levels including management board, senior managers, functional managers and high potential talent.

In addition, she developed marketing campaigns for more than 500 events in over 70 countries and led business development efforts across Europe and Western Asia which included opening offices in Istanbul, London and Moscow. Nora’s experience has led to numerous invitations to speak numerous events on the topics of business education, leadership and talent development in the UK, Germany, Finland, Hungary, France, Turkey, Greece, Russia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

A graduate of Macalester College in the United States, Nora later earned her MBA from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. Nora has lived and worked in Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Chile and Brazil and traveled to over 40 countries. She is bilingual in Spanish and fluent in Portuguese.

Having completed their 6-year board term, Jean Choy, University of Washington, and Prof. Gabriel Aramouni, Fundação Dom Cabral will be leaving the board.
